The Koala Kare Stainless Steel Horizontal Surface/Recessed Mounted Diaper Changing Station is designed to be either:
- Recess mounted into the wall using the included hardware. A framed-out rough wall opening of 35.5 inches wide x 20.5 inches high (with a minimum depth of 4.25 inches from finished surface of wall) is required for installation, making this unit best for new construction or remodeling. The unit is secured into the opening using ¼ inch x 3 inch wood screws through pre-drilled holes on the inner side walls of the unit into the framing of the wall opening.
- Installed directly on to an existing wall surface using the included hardware using 4 pre-drilled mounting holes on the back wall of the unit that are designed for wood screws into wood studs on 32 inch centers. For installation in wall that does not have wood studs 32 inch on center, metal studs, or concrete block, Koala has included toggle fasteners for two of the four holes required for mounting.
Both mounting versions are equipped with a reinforced steel-on-steel hinge running the full length of the station and with 11-gauge steel mounting chassis, the KB110 stations meet all ASTM requirements for static load performance when properly installed. Although designed for no more than 50 pounds, in testing the station easily supported 200 pounds with minimal deflection of the ‘bed’ from the horizontal position. A pneumatic cylinder provides for easy, slow, and controlled opening and closing of the bed. Both the pneumatic cylinder and metal hinge mechanism are fully concealed (regardless of bed position) to eliminate tampering and possible pinch hazard.
The Koala Kare Stainless Steel Horizontal Surface/Recessed Mounted Diaper Changing Station has a MICRO-BAN antimicrobial additive that is permanently embedded into the blow-molded, high-density polyethylene plastic.
